Freshfields advises Anheuser-Busch InBev on £180m sale

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has acted for Anheuser-Busch InBev on the sale of the Tennent’s Lager brand and associated trading assets in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to C&C Group plc ("C&C") for a total enterprise value of £180 million.

As part of the agreement, Anheuser-Busch InBev will appoint C&C as distributor of certain Anheuser-Busch InBev brands in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, and C&C will grant Anheuser-Busch InBev the right to use the Tennent’s Super and Tennent’s Pilsner brands in certain worldwide geographies. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the year.

The Freshfields team advising on the deal was led by Mark Rawlinson, head of Freshfields’ London corporate practice, corporate partner Sundeep Kapila and corporate senior associate Sheena Singla and involved, among others, IP partner Avril Martindale and IP senior associates Paul Joseph and Jill Delaney.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer was appointed to Anheuser-Busch InBev's Global Legal Panel earlier this year.
